As press for my upcoming graphic memoir, Tomboy, start trickling in, I am very excited to announce that it has received a coveted Starred review in Kirkus Reviews!

Every time this book gets a good write-up, I breathe a hugh sigh of relief: I have never written anything so personal, and to find that other people relate to the book, and think it is an important voice about gender, is hugely satisfying.  Writing a memoir is terrifying, laying yourself bare is a big risk; hearing that the book’s intended result is intact makes it all worthwhile.  Hopefully this is just the first of many enthusiastic reviews that the book will receive, but for now, I’m on cloud nine.  Click here to read the entire review, and be sure to request Tomboy from your favorite local bookstore and library so that you can get a copy when it is released on September 2nd!
